16th International Watercolor Biennial

Our friends from the Museo Nacional de la Acuarela once again extend a warm invitation to CSPWC/SCPA Elected Members to participate in their XVI International Watercolour Biennial from November 22, 2026 to February 7, 2027.

How to Participate

Space is limited in this exhibition to six paintings per association. The CSPWC/SCPA determines participation by a draw of those interested and eligible (see below).

To enter the draw:

  • Please review the Important Dates and Eligibility & Requirements sections below
  • Email info@cspwc.ca with the subject line “Mexico 2026–27 Exhibition Participation”
  • Include your name as well as your province, state or country

The deadline for entry is April 24 by 12:00 p.m. EDT. Entry is free.


Important Dates

Please review the following important dates and deadlines:

  • April 24, 2026 – Deadline for entry by 12:00 p.m. EDT
  • May 4, 2026 – Elected Members whose names are drawn will be contacted
  • May 25, 2026 – Deadline for submission of painting details & photo by 12:00 p.m. EDT
  • June 29, 2026 – Deadline for paintings to arrive at the CSPWC/SCPA office
  • March–July, 2027 – Paintings are expected to be returned to the CSPWC/SCPA office
  • July–September, 2027 – Paintings are expected to be returned to their artist

Submission Details

Eligibility:

  • CSPWC/SCPA Elected Members only
  • Must be in good standing
  • Must not have exhibited in a previous International Watercolor Biennial organized by the Alfredo Guati Rojo Museo Nacional de la Acuarela

Requirements:

  • One painting may be submitted per artist
  • Dimensions: min. 50 x 70 cm (20 x 28 in); max. 56 x 76 cm (22 x 30 in)
  • Medium: created primarily using watercolour on paper
  • Preparation: unmatted & unframed
  • Artists may choose the style and subject of their painting. The CSPWC/SCPA reserves the right to request a substitute painting.
  • Paintings must be available for the duration of the exhibition and logistics until the end of summer, 2027
  • Artists who participate in the Biennial authorize the Museo Nacional de la Acuarela to take photos and reproduce artworks and their data for promotional use and the exhibition catalogue.
  • Artists are responsible for the delivery and return of their painting to and from the CSPWC/SCPA office, including any shipping and insurance costs
