So you have finished a great painting and now you want to share it with the world by entering it in a show. But the impression your painting makes is only as good as the photographs you take. Capturing a good image of your painting is a necessary step in the completion of any painting. You need good photos not only for entering shows, but also for documenting and promoting your artwork. However, getting those crisp, clear high resolution photographs can be a challenge.
For the best advice, consult an expert!
Blaine Campbell is a professional photographer who specializes in documenting artwork. We have invited him to present to our Elected Members and Associates. He will help us gain a better understanding of how to use the tools we have at home or in our studios to get the best possible photographs.
These are some of the topics Blaine is going to help us with:
- Camera settings, for iPhone and for stand alone cameras
- How to physically set up your artwork for a good capture
- Lighting
- Image processing (much of getting a good image happens in post production)
- A demonstration of how to take a photo, from shooting to final image
Blaine will provide a handout which we will send out ahead of time to registered participants. To get the most from his presentation , we suggest you review the handout before the presentation. You will have the opportunity to ask questions at the end of the presentation. This is a great opportunity to learn from an expert.
This event will be streamed live on Zoom. Furthermore, a recording will be available for Elected Members and Associates after the event.
This event is only open to CSPWC Members and Associates. You can become an Associate of the CSPWC right now, by clicking here.
We will be announcing this event with an email sent to CSPWC Members/Associates. Stay tuned for that email! Please add our email address (education@cspwc.ca) to your contact list or safe senders list so that it does not end up in your spam or junk folder.
Equipment needed:
A robust internet connection is required for the best viewing of this Zoom event.
