An ONLINE watercolour demonstration with William Rogers, CSPWC
June 16, 2021, 6:00 to 8:00 pm EST.
William Rogers, CSPWC, is known for his exquisite figure paintings, most often done from life.
In this two-hour demonstration Bill will paint a figure in watercolour, alla prima, from start to finish. He will use a photographic reference and will display the reference photo a few times during the demo for comparison. This will allow the audience to see how the artist captures the model and how he creates a painting that has aesthetic value as a work of art.
Bill will explain his process and considerations as he paints. There will be opportunities for questions during a break in the middle of the demo, and at the end. Questions can be typed in the chat box throughout the demo and will be shared with Bill during the question breaks.

About William Rogers
Painting the figure from life is a regular discipline for Bill. He runs a live weekly figure drawing/painting open session at St Francis Xavier University. This has been been a mainstay of his painting practice for the last 20 years. These figures in watercolor, oil and pastel make up a significant part of his exhibitions and gallery consignments. One such figure was juried into the Oil Painters of America (OPA) National Exhibition for 2020 at RS Hanna Gallery in Fredericksburg TX, and another figure painting was juried into the National Oil and Acrylic Painters Society (NOAPS) ‘Best of America 2020 Exhibition at Cutter and Cutter Gallery in St Augustine FL. Most recently an oil figure “A Little Bit Shy” was juried into the OPA’s 2020 Eastern Regional Exhibition at Reinert Gallery in Charleston SC where it won an award of excellence.
In May 2014, Bill served as the Royal Tour Artist for the 2014 Royal Tour of Canada by HRH Prince Charles and HRH Duchess of Cornwall. It was the experience of a lifetime. A number of the works completed from the tour are now in Prince Charles’ Personal Royal Collection.
Bill is a signature member of the American Watercolor Society (AWS), the Transparent Watercolor Society of America (TWSA) and an Elected Member of the Canadian Society of Painters in Watercolour (CSPWC) of which he is a Past President from 2012-2014. He is also a signature member of the American Society of Marine Artists (ASMA).
