An ONLINE watercolour demonstration with Shelley Prior, CSPWC
Capture the gleam of glass and the glimmer of polished silver
January 14, 2023, 1 pm Eastern Time
$20 CSPWC Members, $25 non-members
How to capture the glimmer of glass or silver?
Painting reflective surfaces may seem challenging. Until Shelley Prior shows you how! Join Shelley as she walks you through the planning and building stages to create highly realistic metal and clear glass objects.
You’ll learn how to:
- Arrange and photograph your subject for maximum visual effect
- Plan and preserve your whites from the start with accurate masking methods
- Create soft reflective shadows and graded washes
- Create a translucent glow
- Make dark rich colours
Even if you are not a realistic painter, these tools can help you narrow your focus and observe the key details of glimmering surfaces, skills which will easily translate to impressionistic paintings. Shelley will show you how using the play between contrasting values will give the luminous effect you’re looking for.
