100th OPEN WATER
An International Juried Exhibition in Water Media

OPEN WATER 2025 is the 100th Anniversary Juried Exhibition held by the Canadian Society of Painters in Water Colour. We are proud to be presenting this exhibition at Teichert Gallery, 1723 Hollis Street, Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada. It features watercolour and watermedia paintings from Canadian and international artists.

Paint-Out at Point Pleasant Park
September 12, 2025, 10 am to 1 pm
Bring your watercolour supplies and spend a couple of hours painting alongside fellow watercolour painters on location in Halifax. Artists visiting Halifax for the exhibition are encouraged to join the exhibition Chairs for an informal, social paint-out at a Point Pleasant Park, in the south end of Halifax. This paint-out is brought to you by the Canadian Society of Painters in Water Colour (CSPWC) in celebration of their 100th annual exhibition.

Live, In Person Watercolour Demonstration with Poppy Balser, CSPWC
September 13, 1 to 3 pm
Join us for a live, in person watercolour demonstration at Teichert Gallery, host of Open Water 2025.
Poppy Balser, CSPWC, is an experienced and sought-after watercolour instructor. She will be demonstrating how she paints a coastal scene.

Live, In Person Watercolour Demonstration with William Rogers, CSPWC
September 27, 1 to 3 pm
Join us for a live, in person watercolour demonstration at Teichert Gallery, host of Open Water 2025.
William Rogers, CSPWC, will be demonstrating painting a figure or figures in a casual setting, based on a sketch he did from life in a pub.
Tickets are free, but space is limited. You must register for a ticket to be able to attend. More information and registration is found HERE.
William (Bill) is a past President of the CSPWC and a master painter of the figure in oil and watercolour. Bill is a Signature Member of the American Watercolor Society. He has been recognized internationally for his work, and has several paintings in the personal collection of HRH King Charles III. Currently, Bill’s work is included in the Exhibition “The Art of Royal Travel, Journeys with the King” at Buckingham Palace from July 10 to September 28, 2025.

Awards
A.J. Casson Award: Awarded to the best painting in the exhibition, this bronze medal, in honour of one of the CSPWC’s founding members, was inspired by one of Casson’s masterworks. It is accompanied by a CA$2,000.00 cash award. Open to all entrants.
