History – International Waters

A joint exhibition of the Canadian Society of Painters in Water Colour, the American Watercolor Society and the Royal Watercolour Society.

Several years of planning and fundraising went into the organization of this major exhibition which toured across Canada, the USA, England and Scotland from 1991 to 93.

The project was the brain-child of president Rudolf Stussi (1988-91) who worked tirelessly to achieve what sometimes seemed to be the impossible.

25 paintings by artists from each country made up the exhibition.

The Exhibition was seen in Canada during 1991 at:

The John B. Aird Gallery, Toronto

School of Architecture, McGill University, Montreal
Triangle Gallery of Visual Arts, Calgary, AB
Medicine Hat Museum and Art Gallery, Medicine Hat, AB
The Simon Fraser Gallery, Simon Fraser University, Vancouver, BC

In the USA during 1992 it was at:

The Charles and Emma Frye Museum,Seattle, WA
The Canton Art Institute, Canton, OH
The Salmagundi Club, New York, NY

In 1992/3 it was shown in the United Kingdom at:

The Bankside Gallery, London, England.

A full colour catalogue printed on watercolour paper was produced, including all 75 works.
